The breath-taking landscapes of planet earth set the scene for nature’s most dramatic acts. As many of the world’s most iconic creatures are given centre stage, heroes are born. But at the same time, villains are also created to lurk in the shadows of our favourite animals. Take hyenas and hunting dogs - two canines with a bad rep in the natural world. Seen by many as the bad boys of the savannah, cast as villains and maligned for their scavenging tendencies. But don’t let myths and appearances deceive you. Dig a little deeper and you’ll find some of the traits that we associate with our heroes; protective parents, skillful survivors and all round amazing animals that would lay down their lives for loved ones.
