There’s an amazing substance that holds us together. It protects us from the elements, and is constantly renewing itself – our skin. It is one of the most important organs of the body. When we talk about organs, we think of our stomach or heart, but skin is our biggest and most complicated organ, and it holds all the others together. Throughout the animal kingdom it comes in many forms – it can be camouflage, it can change colour, it can stretch, it sometimes even needs shedding. It can grow hairs, feathers and scales, it is the frontline of the immune system, and needs constant care. Whether it’s protecting a member of the animal kingdom or on our own humble bodies, there’s quite the story behind skin. Let’s face it, skin is amazing - and well worth looking after!
