On the 8th of December 1987, Queen St, in the heart of Melbourne’s CBD was rocked by news of a shooting. Disturbed loner Frank Vitkovic had entered the HQ of Auspost at Queen Street and opened fire with a military grade rifle. Over the next 17 minutes 8 innocent people died and the carnage only ended when Vitkovic threw himself out of a window to his death. In his diary he had honestly and brazenly talked about his feelings and how his frustration would culminate in the horrific act of violence.
