Episode one of “Wild Talk'' looks at the incredible variety of different sounds animals use when they need to communicate with each other. Whether it's for survival, mating, or simply for telling others how they’re feeling animals have an extraordinary number of different vocalisations they use to get information across. The episode also looks at the latest technology that scientists are using to analyse the noises these animals make so we can finally work out what they are saying.
We look at an exciting selection of animals such as king penguins that, in the remote and harsh environment of Antarctica, have evolved a distinctive vocal repertoire that means they can single each other out and their young chicks in a vast crowd. Finally we are able to eavesdrop into the secret conversations going on all around us in the animal kingdom.
