Mini-Series and Long Running Series
ZDF Studios acquires a broad fiction portfolio for the linear and non-linear platforms of the entire ZDF family of channels, from the main channel to ZDFneo, ARTE, 3sat and the ZDFmediathek (VOD). In addition, ZDF Studios negotiates all international event programmes, multi-part series and high-end series co-produced with the ZDF channels.
In the series segment, audiences of the ZDF main programme are offered a variety of crime and thriller programmes. The main focus is on cop-driven crime formats, preferably procedurals, but also on highly cinematic series that are driven by suspense. Successful formats such as "Midsummer Murders", “Signora Volpe”, "Chelsea Detective" and "The Tourist", as well as major event programmes such as "The Boat" and "Around the World in 80 Days" should be mentioned here.
Furthermore, ZDF Studios is supporting the programming of ZDFneo with its target audience of 25 - 34 and a need for modern series in touch with latest trends. The series acquired for ZDFneo, for example "Exit", "High Flyers" or" Killing Eve", are characterised by a wide variety of genres focussing on this younger target group. They also include modern cop series such as “The Rookie”, as well as successful coproductions such as “Riding in Darkness", "Borders" and "Sløborn".
Another focus is on Young Adult Series such as “A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder” with a target audience of 16 - 24. Across a wide range of genres, YA-coproductions for ZDFneo focus on coming-of-age narratives and topics that resonate with that audience.
