Gruppe 5 Filmproduktion GmbH was founded in 1990, has its headquarter in Cologne and branches in Berlin and Hamburg. The main focus of its work is the development and production of high-quality documentaries, docudramas and reports in the fields of history, science, culture, society and nature for the national and international market. In addition, shows such as the Große Terra X-Show or studio productions such as the talkshow maybrit illner, scobel and the literature program the Literarische Quartett are realized.
In 2002, ZDF Studios secured a participating interest in Gruppe 5 Filmproduktion.
DocLights GmbH holds a quarter share.
