Off Limits embarks on an expedition to the few places to which hardly anyone is allowed access. In Ethiopia, the team goes in search of a holy relic. According to Ethiopian belief, a simple chapel in the little town of Axum is said to contain the Ark of the Covenant. The legendary diamond restricted area in south-western Namibia is also visited. It was in 1908 in the former German colony of South-West Africa that the railway official August Stauch triggered off a veritable diamond rush. And finally: North Sentinel Island in the Indian Ocean is taboo to all outsiders. A closely controlled prohibited zone has existed around the island since 1996, but, even so, incidents occur time and again. Two researchers, who so far have been the only outsiders to establish peaceful contact with the mysterious island people, report on their experiences.
