Miles of caves snake beneath Great Britain’s landscape, each with a unique story to tell. In Underworld: Britain, the team heads inside the deepest shaft ever discovered in Britain: Titan. They hope that a comprehensive 3D scan will reveal the shaft’s true size for the first time, as well as revealing secrets about how it formed millions of years ago. But will its vast size prove to be too much of a challenge for the scanning team? And it’s not just Titan that has secrets to share.
Throughout the country, caves help unlock the secrets of our ancestors. From the discovery of the earliest human skeleton in Britain in Cheddar, to 17th Century “Witches’ Marks” at Creswell Crags, modern-day cave dwellers at Kinver Edge, and the very first cave divers at Wookey Hole, the team explore the importance of caves throughout British history.
