Sandra Bessudo heads the Malpelo National Marine Park on the Colombian island of Malpelo in the Pacific Ocean. Although fishing is forbidden in the waters surrounding the island, Bessudo constantly has to patrol the region in search of large fishing boats that hunt the hammerhead shark, whose fins can fetch up to $ 400 a kilo. She is fighting to extend the protected zone to 25 miles, and uses brand-new technology to tag sharks and follow them via satellite.
