When art dealer Egon Wallin (Peter Andersson) is found murdered in his gallery after an exhibition opening, Robert and his team face a dilemma: the killer placed a valuable painting next to his victim, and destroyed it. The painting – The Dying Dandy – had recently been stolen from a museum. Further stolen paintings are found in the gallery’s archives. There is no doubt about it: Wallin was involved in illegal art dealing. Both his partner Hugo Malmberg (Johan Kjellgren) and Wallin’s wife Monika (Marika Lagercrantz) claim to know nothing about this. Marcus Weiler directs a prominent ensemble of German and Scandinavian actors grouped around Walter Sittler and including Sólveig Arnarsdóttir ("Das Duo"), Paprika Steen ("Das Fest"), Frida Hallgren ("Wie im Himmel"), Inger Nilsson ("Pippi Longstocking") and many more. The script was written by Clemens Murath. “The Inspector and the Sea – The Dying Dandy” is a production of Network Movie, Hamburg. Producer: Ilona Schultz. Story editors at ZDF are Klaus Bassiner and Wolfgang Feindt.
