It’s going to be a long time before protestant minister Lena Fauch next gets to see the silent sanctuary in the gallery of the church in Iffeldorf, where she occasionally found refuge and listened in while the organist practiced. At the request of senior investigating officer Kuda, she has agreed to substitute for the police chaplain in Munich.
Her first case brings Lena face to face with detective Gregor Hoffmann. Hoffmann overstepped the line when making an arrest, and is now supposed to work through his breach of conduct with Lena Fauch. Hoffmann is unresponsive and rude. Her encounters with him are provocative and unsettling.
