Alexandra was initially presumed dead after the tsunami. Once she was found and hospitalized in Khao Lak, it seemed unlikely she would survive. Battered but able to function, Heiko used his skills as a physician to help many of the injured. Back in the present, Heiko still wants to help, familiarizing himself with Alexandra’s case – he fully intends to operate on her free of charge to rectify the failings of the Thai hospital.
