It’s deepest winter, but that’s not keeping Julia and Georg from heading into the mountains to look for old caves and remains from the Stone Age. The mood between them is tense, since Georg reproaches Julia of having gotten a job through an affair with a local politician. They end up squabbling, Georg slips and falls off the cliff.
