Eco-activist Anna Wagner returns to her childhood home when her father passes away, although she hadn't spoken a word with him in over 20 years. Upon her arrival she runs into the mayor Bea Westkamp, her one-time best friend, with whom she wanted to conquer the world. Unfortunately, their plans had ended unexpectedly and unpleasantly – so severe that Anna refuses to sell the house and property that she's inherited to the town at the moment she learns that Bea could derive personal gain from it. Bea doesn't give up easily, however, and Anna refuses to be swayed. Their mutual schoolday friend Teddy and Anna's long-suffering boyfriend Christian provide comfort and active support to the two women. As the situation escalates, all four are forced to admit that only by joining forces will they find their way out of this hopeless situation.
