Jakob Stiller is adapting well to life in Wendland and his new position. One morning, an enigmatic stranger appears in his backyard. Stiller takes the injured man to the hospital but, as the man remains otherwise tight-lipped, he is unable to find out anything beside his name, Remy Luger. Later that day, the lifeless body of Niklas Kiehn, a young gardener, is discovered.
