Alice, a chef who lives in Hamburg, is spending Christmas with her boyfriend Nicolas and his family in Bavaria. Although her own parents have passed away, Alice is initially hesitant about the invitation. Is it too soon in their relationship for a family celebration? Their plans to travel there together unfortunately fail to materialize: Nicolas is held up by work and has to come later. Alice is met with a warm welcome from his parents Hanna and Toni upon her arrival. Only Nicolas’s brother Jakob initially makes it difficult for her to settle in to the unfamiliar surroundings.
