After the Battle of Valmy, in September 1792, the National Convention officially abolishes the monarchy. Along with the majority of deputies, Robespierre, Danton and Marat vote for the death of King Louis XVI.
The news of his execution echoes throughout Europe. A revolutionary tribunal is set up and becomes the driver of the Reign of Terror. The Revolution would gradually crush all its heroes. Robespierre and many others end up on the gallows. By July 1794, the political life returns to normal.
