Schleswig-Holstein: Land between the Seas

  • New

Schleswig-Holstein, Germany’s second smallest federal state, is nestled between the Baltic Sea and the North Sea. In addition to the two seas, this diverse region boasts stunning waterways, shaped by the last ice age, including over 200 lakes, moors, bays, and even fjords. Little-known rivers, such as the Eider, Treene, Sorge, and Trave, crisscross the region, adding to its charm.

The film is centred around the diverse waterways, beginning in Westerhever on the Wadden Sea, and taking the viewer on a journey through the Geltinger Birk, the Flensburg fjord, and the Holstein lake district. Highlighting the delicate balance between nature conservation, agriculture, and tourism, we meet the fishermen who make their living on the 42-kilometre-long Schlei fjord, and visit the bustling bay in the old Hanseatic city of Lübeck.
