Lions: unbeatable as a pride. But even they have to fight for their lives daily. The pride at the Ronkai River in southern Kenya ensured the safety of most of their offspring during the first dangerous months. But now, lean times face them: the wildebeest herds migrate to the Serengeti, leaving a barren land behind them. When hunting, the lion mothers risk their own lives. When young male lions arrive with ambitions of wresting the territory from its current rulers, the situation escalates.
