Chief Inspector Rene Schubecker, an investigator for the narcotics department and Freddy Breyer’s best friend, has been murdered. Freddy finds a picture in Schubecker’s belongings pointing to an old case he was apparently looking into again. Sixteen years ago, a young woman named Corinne had been murdered in his hometown of Koenigsmacker in Germany’s Lorraine region. Is it possible the wrong person was identified as the killer back then under pressure from the public?
