Sol and Jessica have to look after her siblings and pretend to be a family. Hardy is required to attend to family matters as well when his mother pays him a visit.
Just when Jessica’s father disappears without trace after a night of drinking, a youth welfare officer pays Lisa and Jeremy an unannounced visit. To prevent them from being taken into care with foster parents, Jessica promptly decides to take in her siblings herself. In order to persuade the welfare worker of their parenting skills, Jessica and Sol assume the roles of mother and father for a week. While Jessica tries to strike a balance between work and looking after the children, Sol takes things easy and spends as much time as possible in Hardy’s pizzeria. But this turns out to be a fatal mistake – not least when Hardy’s mother, who pursues a very distinctive line of work, calls on him out of the blue.
