Anne and Erik are basically an average couple in the second decade of their marriage, trying to find themselves while in couples’ therapy, dealing with a lot of problems. Their son is in puberty, the erotic spark between them is nothing but a vague memory and everyday life is dominated by organizational matters. The situation escalates on Anne’s birthday, partly caused by Erik’s boring gift, and partly by the involvement of their parents, who are as incompatible as it gets.
