Murder in the Dark, mostly takes place at the fictional Hiddledean Hall during the Wildemarsh Annual Literary Festival, where the ‘Golden Pick-Axe’ award is to be presented for the best new crime novel. When the winner of the award, Oliver Prescott, is murdered during a momentary black-out, Mattie investigates with the help of her three enthusiastic aunts, but before the killer is identified, a second murder is committed.
