It's Tara's final year at the Academy and her preparations for a surprise 18th birthday for Abigail clash with a tantalising opportunity for Third Years to audition for temporary roles in the National Company's current ballet. It is three weeks into Third Year and Tara and her friends are already feeling the pressure. Speculation bubbles when the National Ballet Company's Artistic Director, Sir Jeffrey McEwan, and Ballet Mistress, Rebecca Braithwaite, announce that some temporary fill-in roles have come up in the corps de ballet. Tara tries to organise a surprise celebration for Abigail's birthday but her doggedness to ensure it is spectacular jeopardises her preparation for the auditions. Christian is mysteriously absent and no one knows if he'll return to the Academy. Ollie has been allowed to repeat final year but already feels his chances of winning a contract this time around are slim. Grace is also continuing her training at the Academy but her relationship with the others, especially Tara, remains strained. While Kat's early success in Second Year motivates her to see if she can fast track into Third Year and graduate with her original class and friends.
