Episode 2 is devoted to humans and deals with the day-night rhythm that determines us and many living things. However, the triumphal march of light changed our relationship to night, just like our cities, our economy, our life and its tact: In the Middle Ages, contracts and alliances concluded at night were invalid and night work was undesirable, and people slept in two stages. Today we try to sleep in one piece or work around the clock. Studies have shown that someone who sleeps only 5-6 hours for weeks is as powerful as having a blood alcohol level of 1.0 per mill. So it makes sense that at some point we will get tired. But what is fatigue? And sleep: vital, but dangerous for many animals, how does it work and why can't we exist without it?
