In this episode of the documentary series Andreas Kieling reports from the Amazon basin, Siberia, South Africa, the mountains of western China and the Eiffel region back home in Germany. Kieling ventures to western China almost as far as the border with Tibet in search of the great panda, the legendary bamboo bear. The future of the Siberian tiger does not look promising. There are only about 500 of these creatures alive today; the biggest wildcats on earth inhabit the border area between China, Russia and North Korea. Andreas Kieling sets off to track down the last of the big cats in the depths of the Siberian winter. At the other end of the world, off the coast of South Africa, Andreas Kieling is drawn to a unique habitat which is rich in an extremely unusual animal world. Fiddler crabs and mudskippers inhabit the mangrove forests here, and during the course of evolution they have adapted with immense skill to varying water levels. The Amazon jungle forms the biggest rainforest in the world. And wildlife here is also on a superlative scale. The most powerful snake on the world lives here, the giant anaconda. And this is what Andreas Kieling sets out to find. There is a large, very shy bird living in the forest of Europe, and very few people even know of its existence: the black stork, a cousin of the familiar white stork
