The next murder victim is Johannes Schindelar, a tannery owner despised by everyone who worked for him. Schindelar is found drowned in a tub of lye, and once again, the murder looks like an execution. The two investigators find the first clues that suggest the cases may be connected. But then the fire department’s commanding officer, Chief Diebold, burns to death. Can this really be a series of accidents?
