Julie is a pretty girl from England who sets out for Canada in response to a marriage ad. Unfortunately, when she gets there, she discovers that Antony, her intended, has unexpectedly died – and equally surprisingly, that the photo he had sent her was not in fact of himself, but of his son Justin. Since Julie is completely broke and her journey home is hindered by the autumn storms, she stays on for a while at the farm.
