In the town of Stolpe the farmer Johannson is discovered dead at his kitchen table with a telephone receiver in his hand. He was struck from behind. Who did this? And who was Johannson talking to on the phone shortly before he died? His only son Benni Johannson cannot really help the investigators as they search for the perpetrator, but he can offer them a possible motive: His father hoarded a large sum of money in his house, which has now vanished. Who could have known about it? Johannson was known to be a difficult, short-tempered man who didn't get along well with other people – and he didn't get along with his son in particular.
