Lena is now studying radio mechanics to help her husband Hans in his endeavor to produce low-cost TV sets for his father’s company. But after his de-Nazification, Sattler Sr. no longer needs Lena. When the elder Sattler dies in an accident, Hans takes over and Lena returns to work feverishly on their project. The long hours take their toll and, after a workers’ strike, Hans threatens Lena in a drunken rage. She leaves him, and resolves to clear up the mystery surrounding her father and his invention.
