From the 15th to far into the 20th century, Europeans conquer the world. In 1492, Columbus discovers America while seeking a new sea route to India. The Conquistadors then unleash disease and destruction on the New World, while Europeans bring over millions of black African slaves as cheap labor. Europe enjoys a “Golden Age” on the backs of its colonies. In the late 1800s, European countries scramble to Africa for “a place in the sun”. Lust for overseas territory leads to the First World War.
