Told with humor and emotion, this Bavarian family western follows the lives of a police family – the Germingers – through their many trials and tribulations. When junk dealer Anton is found dead, the whole Germinger family find themselves involved in the case, from law-abiding detective Franz Junior and his rebellious sister Anna to ex-policeman Franz Germinger and his wife, Erika. Who could've had it out for Anton? Inspector Franz Germinger, Junior finds himself groping in the dark for answers. His sister, Anna, who has a frustrating tendency to work outside the lines, seems to always be one step ahead. Still more exasperating for Junior, however, is his father's insistence on investigating, too. After all, isn't Franz Senior supposed to be retired? Yet leaving all the work up to his son is out of the question for Franz Senior, especially because the victim was his best friend. Or could it be that he's up to something else entirely? Erika, for one, certainly knows something Franz Junior doesn't. Despite the fact that she and Franz Senior are separated, they continue to live under one roof with the rest of the family. As the Germingers discuss the case everywhere from the office to the lunch table, Junior nears his wits' end. Even though they're constantly getting on each other's nerves, the Germingers are a family that sticks together loyally when it counts. In spite of their typical tumult, they make an exceptionally hard-hitting and efficient team. This family is a motley police crew with a somewhat untraditional interpretation of law and justice. As Franz Senior says, "When you yell at someone because you care about them, that's what makes you a family."
