While studying fashion design in Amsterdam more than 20 years earlier, Mia Kaufmann had earned some much-needed money by serving as an egg donor for a childless couple. Now her longing for a child propels her back there. One year before, Mia’s beloved daughter was killed in an accident. Mia has done all she can to come to terms with her loss, and knows that someone else’s child can never take the place of Hannah, but she is still drawn back to the Dutch capital. When she has all but given up the search for her biological child, she hears about Mathijs, who is living on a houseboat with his girlfriend.
