Having grown up in a patchwork family, Lisa now longs for a stable family of her own. Emilio feels the same way: Lisa and the heir to an aristocratic Barcelona banking family, the Alvarados, have fallen in love and want to marry. Tradition demands that Lisa be baptized in a grand ceremony; but just as the family gathers at the cathedral, Lisa's grandmother bursts into the church. As a former student rebel in the 1960s, she assumes that the Alvarados have made their money illegally. Can Lisa love a banker, she asks. And more importantly, does she love Emilio?
