The natural beauties of Ontario and Quebec are on the program of this cruise, which marks the beginning of Lena Küppers' career as stewardess on board the MS Deutschland. Her "father" is the ship's Captain Victor Burger, who faces a dilemma: Victor had taken over the father's role when he lived with Lena's mother after her divorce. Lena still feels very close to him, which presents certain problems on board the ship. Encouraged by Beatrice, Victor and Lena try to find Lena's biological father, who is said to live in Quebec with his family. A more serious problem emerges on board when the assistant of a famous photographer plans to present a new illustrated book on board the ship, and dedicate it to his master, who died in Canada while working on his last project. The problem? The photographer turns up on the ship, with interesting news about his "death".
