A bus accident is keeping Frühling occupied. As a designated village helper, Katja Baumann is called in to help the Steinmüller family, who have been hit particularly hard by the accident – both parents were injured. Katja not only has to look after the family’s farm, but also after their adult daughter Mila, who has Down’s syndrome. At the Steinmüllers’ farm, Katja realizes that Mila leads a largely independent life. But the problem of Mila’s parents being in the hospital is now being compounded by a completely different one.
