Mikkel’s state continues to worsen. He keeps trying to maintain order on the island, but things are slipping away from him. Nikolai stays in Helena’s empty hotel and boosts her spirits by spontaneously convincing her to dance with him. He is feeling euphoric and, in memory of Merit Ponz, begins to overcome his writer’s block and write his long overdue novel. He is surprisingly inspired by the apocalypse. Yvonne finds out about her friend Evelin and sends Herm to Milan Gruber to spy on him and find out whether Evelin is involved with him. The visibly ill teacher discovers Herm and chases him away. Evelin and Milan make plans to escape, but their plans don’t come to pass, because the next morning Milan is dead. Evelin is devastated.
