Father Eberhard is a master carpenter who has worked at a local furniture factory for 30 years, where he enjoys great trust. Mother Hannelore runs a small beverage distribution business out of the basement of their home, ensuring she is always up to date with the latest happenings on their street. Son Rüdiger is training to become a mechanical engineer, and Andy, the baby of the family, is supposed to become a surgeon, but he is toying with the idea of earning his living as a cook. Grandmother Käthe, Eberhard’s mother, also lives with the family.
