Ana and Thomas are searching for a scientist who has gone missing while doing fieldwork. When they find him, he is seriously ill and has to be taken to the clinic. In order to contain the scientist's highly infectious virus, Jana and Thomas have to track down the source of infection and finally find it among the tribe of the Jhaskais, among whom several people are also infected and close to death. The tribe turns down Jana's offer to help - out of fear?ignorance? tradition? The situation escalates when Jana smuggles a little girl into Thomas' plane and saves her life at the clinic. The tribe sees that differently, however, and kidnaps Thomas. The ultimatum: Thomas or the girl. Jana must decide between leaving either Thomas or the girl to die. In the end, Jana must learn that there are values and traditions in Africa that must be respected by those who come here.
