Nothing could be further from publishing editor Jane Grant’s mind than a camper holiday, even when her husband Clark wants to finally realise his dream of a family adventure in the wilderness.
But when Jane‘s boss in New York threatens to fire her, after best-selling author John Dwyer announces that he wants to change publisher because of Jane‘s criticism of his new novel, she suddenly changes her mind about the road trip. She must track down Dwyer in the forests of New England.
The solitary author John Dwyer is a staunch outdoorsman and is said to live in a cabin near a remote lake in Maine. As the family sets off in their monstrous vehicle, each member of the family carries a ticking time bomb along in their luggage: Jane has kept the true motives for her journey to herself, as she does not want to worry anyone about her job being at stake.
But the other family members also have something to hide. Clark's mistress Ashley, for example, chases after the camper, and son Robin uses the knowledge of his sister Lilly's secret to blackmail her
Living together in close quarters while facing the challenges of nature, the technical refinements of the motorhome and last but not least the exhausting encounter with camping neighbour Pinch, puts the family to the test. Until finally, one time bomb after another goes off.
