Episode 1 asks: Are the differences between girls and boys innate or acquired? The fact that boys and girls have different brains is outdated. Today, research is being done on how our environment "gender-tunes" brains.
In Sweden, we meet a child who is raised without any reference to gender and ask: is that good or problematic? In most of the world, it is obvious: girls often represent a burden for the family, and are unwanted. Worldwide, there are already 140 million women missing. In the West, the situation is changing. There, boys are considered difficult. The "AlleMann" project explicitly supports boys. It has long since become clear that boys also need support. One phenomenon in particular concerns doctors today: that more and more children want to change their gender. The film accompanies a child who wants to change his gender.
