Tuva, an architect, and her younger sister Sofia decide to join their friend Malin on another trip from Stockholm to rural Svaneholm. There the sisters will visit their aunt, Ingeborg, who has been a surrogate mother to the girls since the untimely death of their parents. On the drive to their childhood home, the women offer a ride to Erik, whose car has broken down, stranding him on the country road.
