Following the death of their parents, sisters Paula and Agneta Rondahl have settled into life in their small Swedish harbour town. Agneta runs the family hotel amidst constant struggles to make ends meet, while Paula makes a living from fishing. Both of them love their jobs and bringing up Gitta, Agneta's daughter.
When an attractive offer to buy their entire property arrives unexpectedly, Agneta is prepared to consider selling. However, her sister Paula chooses to ignore the hotel's financial dire straits and hopes for a positive development.
