Young conductor Stine Sunström returns to her home town to conduct the local orchestra for a summer concert. While there, she sees her daughter Lene, who was raised by Stine’s mother Birgit. Lene has been led to believe she is Stine’s sister, but Stine thinks the time has come to finally tell her daughter the truth. And that’s not all: Stine is about to accept an assistant position with a famous conductor in Rome, and she wants Lene to join her in Italy. First Stine has to find a way to convince Birgit to let Lene go with her.
