When Helen finds out her boyfriend Tomas has been lying to her for years she delves into her work and flees to the countryside town of Lanborg. The antiquities dealer she works for sends the studied art historian to catalog and sell the furniture in Greta Janson’s old house. Robert, a brewery owner, wants the house to be empty when he moves in with his daughter Tessa.
Robert has purchased the Janson Brewery along with the Janson family house to gain independence from his father Ole, who is himself a successful brewer in Stockholm. Helen and Greta quickly become friends, despite the generational gap. But then the past catches up with Greta, and Helen, too, is confronted with a surprising discovery. Both women realize they have been stricken by and will experience very similar strokes of fate. Can Helen make the right decision with the aid of Greta’s wisdom?
