Anna, a friend from Marie’s teenage years, returns to Wildegg to help her father with his country store. The store’s finances are grim, and it won’t stay afloat without an injection of capital. The bank, however, refuses to increase the existing line of credit, and Flori himself has to break the news to Anna’s father. Matters take an even worse turn when Anna’s father is involved in a car accident on his way back from the bank, and does not survive, despite firefighters’ efforts to resuscitate him.
