In the middle of the night, Lena Lorenz picks up a pregnant woman, who appears to have accidentally stranded in Himmelsruh. She makes a desperate impression.
Lena takes her to the Lorenzhof. Katerina Nowak is close to giving birth. But when the couple Beate and Christian Mertens suddenly show up, it turns out that the young woman is a surrogate mother. The couple have come to claim "their" baby.
But Katerina is not sure if she really wants to give the baby to the couple. In her homeland of the Czech Republic surrogacy is not a problem, but she has come to Germany because she wants to keep the child and the legal situation is different here. Lena is irritated by the "deal" between the Mertens' and Katerina, but also sees how confused the young woman is now. Beate too is desperate, as she considers surrogate motherhood her only chance to have her own child.
As Eva is in Vietnam, Lena puts Katerina up in her room for now. She has enough on her mind as it is. Besides her clinic, she also agreed to help look after the farm while Eva is travelling. Basti is demanding a lot from her, and as Leo still hasn’t quite recovered from his pelvis fracture, Lena barely has time to breath - or for Quirin, whose relationship with his boss and ex-wife Rosa is coming under increasing strain.
