Lena Lorenz is in the process of establishing a private midwifery practice in Himmelsruh, when two young parents sue her, claiming that she botched their baby’s birth. Complications during delivery may mean a lifelong handicap for their child. As the shocked couple struggles to accept their baby, Lena’s future as a midwife is on the line.
In spite of it all, Lena is enjoying her new life. Although there are many challenges associated with opening her own midwifery practice, Lena wants to be her own boss. And then there's her mother's farm to think about. Since she's living there, too, Eva expects her to pitch in.
Luckily for her, Bastian is always there to help – though the fledgling farmer wants part-ownership of the farm, something Eva is reluctant to give up. But Bastian is a persistent fellow. After all, he's on good terms with Grandpa Leo, too.
At times, Lena doesn't know which way to turn. Her old friend Julia is still giving her the silent treatment, and Ersun is suddenly keeping her at arm’s length. A stranger shows up in Himmelsruh, and Ersun tells Lena she’s his sister. Sensing that something isn’t right, Lena confronts Ersun and finds out that Gülcen is actually his wife, who's trying to convince him to fly to Istanbul with her.
